Collaborative Robotics Company Information
Collaborative Robotics, founded in 2022, focuses on developing collaborative robots (cobots) that prioritize ‘human problem solving’ over humanoid forms. Their cobots are designed to automate the movement of carts, boxes, and totes in warehouses, as well as handle tasks in grocery stores, schools, airports, delivery docks, and moving trucks. The company’s first robot, which uses a zonal compute architecture and industrial-rated sensors, was built with over 70% off-the-shelf parts and was fully functional upon initial power-up. This robot is capable of autonomously sensing and moving around its environment, meeting real-world specifications from the start. Collaborative Robotics’ cobots are designed to enhance operational efficiency and elevate the quality of care in healthcare, blending naturally with operations and adapting to various applications and environments. They aim to reduce labor shortages and high turnover challenges in logistics by shifting physically demanding tasks to cobots. The company has launched the Flywheel Program, which includes three phases offering customers quick wins and gaining experiences. Collaborative Robotics’ customers span the bio-tech, healthcare, logistics, and manufacturing sectors, and their cobots are adaptable for use in offices, stadiums, and hotels to facilitate transport, guide guests, and assist with cleaning tasks. The development and building of their new cobot began with a team of builders with over 175 years of experience in building robots. The team has grown to 23 experts focused on customer success and the development and deployment of the cobot. Collaborative Robotics raised $30 million in Series A funding backed by Sequoia Capital, Khosla Ventures, and Mayo Clinic, and recently announced $100 million in Series B funding led by General Catalyst, with participation from Bison Ventures, Industry Ventures, and Lux Capital.
