Helsing

Helsing is a defence AI company established in 2021, dedicated to developing AI-based capabilities to protect democracies. The company adopts a software-first approach, collaborating with industry and governments to integrate advanced AI with both existing and new hardware platforms. Helsing has a presence in Munich, London, Paris, and Berlin. In September 2023, Helsing raised €209 million in a Series B funding round led by General Catalyst, with Swedish group Saab joining as a strategic investor. Earlier in June 2023, the German government selected Helsing to provide new AI-enabled electronic warfare capabilities for the Eurofighter update. Additionally, in August 2023, Helsing and its consortium partners secured a contract to supply the AI backbone for the Future Combat Air System (FCAS) programme. Active in Ukraine since 2022, Helsing has been providing capabilities and technology for frontline operations. The company’s Series A funding round was led by Prima Materia, an investment firm founded by Daniel Ek, co-founder and CEO of Spotify. Helsing plans to use the new capital to expand its operations in France, Germany, and the UK, and to deepen its investments in core technology initiatives. The company employs AI and software to enable faster and more accurate decision-making at tactical, operational, and strategic levels. Helsing funds its own research and technology development, allowing for large-scale R&D. The company’s mission is to protect democracies by thoughtfully developing and deploying AI technologies with the highest ethical standards.
