DataChat

DataChat is a no-code, generative AI platform designed for instant analytics, allowing users to work within chat boxes and spreadsheets instead of traditional code interfaces. The platform includes built-in machine learning and data science functions, ensuring traceability and reproducibility by documenting the steps that produce insights. DataChat’s conversational AI translates complex data sets into clear, actionable insights, empowering data analysts and business individuals to perform tasks such as data wrangling, exploration, visualization, predictive modeling, and outlier analysis using plain English or a spreadsheet-driven user experience.

Founded based on research conducted at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, DataChat received early investment from America’s Seed Fund through SBIR grants from the National Science Foundation and the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation (WARF). In 2020, the company raised an early-stage investment round led by Silicon Valley venture capital firms Celesta Capital and Nepenthe Capital, with participation from individuals from Google and Palo Alto Networks. The Series A round in late 2021 was led by Redline Capital and Anthos Capital, with participation from existing investors.

DataChat’s platform was reengineered to leverage OpenAI’s ChatGPT-4 and offers a free version for individual use with limitations on concurrent sessions and storage. For large enterprises, DataChat Enterprise provides custom deployments with additional features like support packages and single sign-on authentication. The platform supports data connections to Snowflake, Google BigQuery, Presto, Databricks, Amazon Aurora, and Postgres, as well as CSV file uploads. It offers automated machine learning (AutoML), interactive and automatic data visualization, and auto-generation of outliers and their root causes. Insights Boards and Workflows enable collaborative visualization and narrative sharing, while built-in cost optimization for cloud databases is achieved through data sampling and caching. Headquartered in Madison, Wisconsin, DataChat’s mission is to enable everyone, regardless of technical skills, to transform complex data into confident decisions.
