Geordie Rose

Geordie Rose is a prominent figure in the fields of quantum computing and robotics. He co-founded D-Wave, the world’s first company dedicated to quantum computing, and later served as the CEO of Kindred, the first robotics company to implement reinforcement learning in a production environment. His innovative work has led to partnerships with major organizations including Google, NASA, Lockheed Martin, Gap Inc., and various US government agencies. Rose was recognized as the Canadian Innovator of the Year in 2011 and was listed among Foreign Policy Magazine’s 100 Leading Global Thinkers in 2013. He also received the Canadian Technology Leader award in 2014. Academically, he holds a Ph.D. in theoretical physics from the University of British Columbia. Beyond his professional achievements, Rose has excelled in sports, being a two-time Canadian national wrestling champion and a winner at the 2010 NAGA masters white belt Brazilian jiu-jitsu world championships in both gi and no-gi categories. He is also a member of the McMaster University Hall of Fame, celebrating his varied contributions to technology, science, and athletics.
