Quantum Motion Company Information
Quantum Motion is pioneering the development of scalable arrays of qubits using silicon technology, the same technology found in smartphones and computers. The company aims to address complex problems in fields such as chemistry, medicine, and artificial intelligence. By leveraging silicon-based integrated circuit technology, Quantum Motion can fit billions of transistors into a space the size of a stamp. The company has been chosen by the UK’s National Quantum Computing Centre (NQCC) to construct a quantum processor test bed, which will be the first to use conventional silicon manufacturing processes. Quantum Motion’s prototype system will be based on the silicon MOS platform used in consumer electronics. The company has developed expertise in high-density silicon qubits, quantum processor architectures, cryo-electronics, and machine learning control, achieving peer-reviewed and record-breaking milestones in silicon quantum technology. Employing 50 specialists in quantum theory, engineering, and software, Quantum Motion has created integrated circuits capable of generating and processing signals at deep cryogenic temperatures. They have also demonstrated the mass characterization of thousands of multiplexed quantum dots fabricated in a tier one foundry. With a goal to reach one million qubits and beyond, Quantum Motion aims to fast-track the development of fault-tolerant quantum computers. Their technology is set to power high-impact applications, including the discovery of new chemicals, materials, and drugs, optimization of resource usage, and enabling new models for AI and machine learning. The team is based in Oxford and London, with a center of mass in their new Islington lab.
