Blue River Technology Company Information
Blue River Technology was established in 2011 by Jorge and Lee, two Stanford graduate students, with the aim of enhancing agricultural sustainability through innovative robotics and computer vision technologies. The company first developed the lettuce bot, a robotic system designed to automate the lettuce thinning process. Their significant advancement, the See & Spray™ technology, utilizes deep learning to accurately identify various plants and weeds, optimizing weed control across different growing seasons. In 2017, Blue River Technology was acquired by John Deere and continues to function as an independently-run subsidiary. The technology has earned multiple accolades, including the Eco Startup Showcase Winner at SXSW 2013, a National Science Foundation Innovation Research Grant, recognition in The Artificial Intelligence 100 by CB Insights, and a listing among the Most Innovative Robotics Companies by Fast Company, both in 2017. The company showcased its See & Spray™ technology at the 2020 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. With a strong focus on reducing chemical usage and enhancing farm yields, Blue River Technology is committed to impacting global sustainability. The company plans to make the See & Spray™ technology available to all growers by 2021.
