Razorpay, founded in 2014 and headquartered in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India, is a prominent fintech company focusing on payment solutions. The company employs a team of 2700 members and operates in regions including India, South Asia, and offers remote and partly remote options. Razorpay is part of the Y Combinator W15 batch and has raised a total of $741.5 million through multiple funding rounds. The company powers online payments for 34 of the 42 startups in India that became unicorns in 2022 and enables payments and banking solutions for over 10 million businesses. Razorpay’s valuation soared from $1 billion to $7.5 billion within 14 months in 2021. The company has made seven acquisitions, including Ezetap, PoshVine, IZealiant, Curlec, TeraFin Labs, RazorpayX Payroll, and Thirdwatch. Razorpay has launched several pioneering initiatives, such as India’s first completely digital onboarding process for startups, support for UPI and Bharath QR, and the Multi-Network Tokenisation solution, TokenHQ. It is also the first payment gateway in India to support credit cards on UPI and became the largest omnichannel payment gateway in India after acquiring Ezetap. Additionally, Razorpay has expanded its health insurance policy to include LGBTQIA+ and live-in partners and plans to scale up its Business Banking Suite, RazorpayX, in 2023.
