BharatPe was founded in 2018 with the mission to create a comprehensive FinTech platform catering to offline merchants and small businesses. Since its inception, the company has grown significantly, amassing a network of over 13 million merchants across more than 450 cities in India. BharatPe has attracted substantial investment, raising over US$ 583 million in equity from investors including Peak XV Partners, Ribbit Capital, and Tiger Global.

BharatPe Products and Services

BharatPe offers a range of fintech products focused on payments and business loans. The BharatPe One device combines POS, QR, and speaker functionalities into a single platform, providing a variety of payment acceptance options such as dynamic and static QR codes, tap-and-pay, and traditional card payments. Additionally, BharatPe Money facilitates business loans, having disbursed over Rs. 14,600 crores in partnership with NBFCs.

BharatPe Merchant Network

BharatPe has built a vast merchant network comprising over 13 million members across 450+ cities in India. The company's payment solutions process transactions amounting to an annualized Transaction Processed Value of over Rs. 1.7 Lac Crores. The BharatPe swipe business alone handles payments exceeding Rs. 29,000 crores annually, highlighting the extensive reach and impact of its fintech solutions.

BharatPe's Strategic Acquisitions and Partnerships

In June 2021, BharatPe acquired PAYBACK India, which was rebranded as Zillion in 2023. Later in October 2021, a consortium including BharatPe and Centrum Financial Services Limited received a Small Finance Bank license from the Reserve Bank of India. BharatPe entered the consumer fintech sector with the launch of postpe in the same year. In January 2023, BharatPe's Resilient Payments Pvt Ltd received an in-principle approval from RBI to operate as an online payment aggregator.

Innovations and Technology at BharatPe

BharatPe has continued to innovate with the launch of BharatPe One, an all-in-one payment product that integrates POS, QR, and speaker functions into a single device. This device is equipped with a high-definition touchscreen display, 4G and Wi-Fi connectivity, and is powered by the latest Android operating system. BharatPe One provides real-time transaction updates and instant voice payment confirmation, offering a streamlined and hassle-free experience for merchants and customers. The rollout of BharatPe One will initially cover 100+ cities and expand to 450+ cities within six months.
