Community Ventures Company Information
Community Ventures, established in 1982 and based in Lexington, KY, is dedicated to comprehensive, human-centered community development. The organization operates branch locations in Bowling Green, Campbellsville, Louisville, Mayfield, Millersburg, and Owensboro. It has been recognized as Microlender of the Year by the Kentucky Small Business Administration for 21 consecutive years. Community Ventures provides a wide range of services including business resources, inclusive housing, and community revitalization. The organization has created 15,200 jobs, supported 8,600 entrepreneurs, and educated 1,056,000 home buyers. It offers SBA microloans to small businesses in five Northwest Tennessee counties and operates several incubators such as Chef Space in Louisville, Art Inc., and Mustard Seed Hill in Millersburg. Additionally, Community Ventures utilizes structural insulated panel (SIP) technology for rapid home construction and has received a $40,000 Water and Environment grant from the American Water Charitable Foundation for the renovation of Millersburg Town Square. The organization provides small business courses, advising, affordable office spaces, and a Women’s Business Center of Kentucky. It partners with various community organizations and government agencies to drive change and resource dreams, offering affordable financing, education, and neighborhood revitalization to improve the quality of life for Kentuckians. Community Ventures has completed historic renovations in rural West Virginia in collaboration with the Appalachian Regional Commission and provides microloans ranging from $500 to $50,000 for various business needs. The organization hosts networking and training events, operates a business incubator in Fulton called Ventures Village, and offers six home designs for new home construction. It also provides individualized financial counseling, large-scale neighborhood revitalization, HUD-certified housing counseling, and is a charter member of NeighborWorks America. Community Ventures supports homeownership through education and rental assistance and has closed projects totaling more than $365M across the region, creating over 14,000 jobs, with 30% of projects dedicated to rural areas. The organization also offers technical assistance to companies with microloans.
