Accion is a global nonprofit organization founded in 1961, with a mission to create a fair and inclusive economy. Accion collaborates with local partners to develop and scale responsible digital financial solutions for underserved people globally. As a leading early-stage investor in fintech for inclusion, Accion has helped build more than 235 financial service providers operating across 75 countries, reaching over 350 million underserved people since its inception. In 2022 alone, 26.6 million people actively used tools provided by Accion’s financial service provider partners. Accion Advisory leverages expertise in digital technologies to design, test, and deploy new financial products and services. The Center for Financial Inclusion, an independent think tank housed at Accion, focuses on consumer protection, women’s economic inclusion, data risks and opportunities, and climate change. Accion’s investment strategies include Accion Emerge, Accion Impact Management, Accion Venture Lab, and Accion Transformation Capital, with a focus on social impact and driving systems-level change. Accion launched the first global inclusive fintech fund, the Accion Frontier Inclusion Fund, managed by Quona Capital. The organization has a presence in Washington, DC, Bogota, Colombia, Mumbai, India, and Bangalore, India. Accion supports the digital transformation of financial providers across Asia, Latin America, and Africa, and works with financial institutions and fintech companies to provide refugees and migrants with responsible financial services. Accion’s partners include the Mastercard Center for Inclusive Growth, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, Citi Foundation, and USAID. Through its efforts, Accion provides savings, insurance, credit, and other financial services to millions of underserved people.
