Lutheran Services Florida (LSF) was established in 1982 to continue the efforts of Lutheran Churches that united to assist Vietnamese and Cuban refugees. Today, LSF impacts the lives of 1 in 50 Floridians through its three main service lines: Head Start, Family Focus, and Health Systems. LSF Health Systems serves a 23-county region in Northeast and North Central Florida and is one of seven behavioral health Managing Entities contracted by the Florida Department of Children and Families. The organization operates more than 65 programs across Florida with approximately 1,600 dedicated employees. LSF Head Start has been providing early childhood education for over 30 years. The Family Focus program aims to strengthen families, welcome refugees and immigrants, care for the elderly, counsel teens and families in crisis, and manage safe place shelters and resource centers. LSF offers numerous volunteer opportunities, including supporting refugees and immigrants, strengthening families, and protecting children in the child welfare system. The Baskets of Love program benefits struggling mothers, foster parents, and at-risk children, while the Back to School Drive collects supplies to help children start the school year successfully. Refugee Hope Kits provide essential items for refugee families, and the Circle of Hope program encourages monthly donations to support at-risk youth, families in crisis, refugees, and senior citizens. The Bay Area Bridge Builders initiative connects businesses with charitable opportunities to assist those in need.
