Talyn Air, formerly known as Talyn Air, Inc., is an industrials company located in Los Angeles, California, operating within the aviation and space sub-industry. The company, which participated in the Y-Combinator W20 batch, has a team of 18 employees and focuses on the development of electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft specifically designed for cargo. Talyn Air’s unique approach involves an electric fixed-wing aircraft that is caught mid-air by a custom winged drone, enhancing VTOL capabilities and enabling the aircraft to operate without the need for runways. This design facilitates true door-to-door transportation and is inspired by the two-stage rockets concept, utilizing two separate vehicles for liftoff and cruising. Currently, Talyn Air is testing prototypes for unmanned, commercialized cargo planes and is developing a platform aimed at 100% battery electric regional mobility. Their next generation of Cruise vehicles is expected to transport up to 1000-lb payloads over distances exceeding 300 miles at speeds above 200 mph. After operation, the aircraft pairs with another Lift vehicle, allowing for a gentle landing on any helipad-sized platform. Talyn Air’s notable partners include the US Navy, US Air Force, Y Combinator, Creative Destruction Lab, and Women and Drones, underscoring its significant collaborative efforts in advancing cargo delivery technologies.
