Talk is Free Theatre Company Information
Talk is Free Theatre, established in 2003 in Barrie, Ontario, has made significant contributions to the performing arts landscape by producing over 150 works. The company is dedicated to presenting a diverse range of off-centre, inventive, and rare programming, with a particular emphasis on new writing, neglected classics, and radical re-interpretations of established repertoire. Notably, it developed ‘The Curious Voyage’, an immersive theatre experience that spans three days and travels from Barrie to London, UK. Talk is Free Theatre also organizes The WOW Collection, a multi-disciplinary festival of immersive art. The company has been instrumental in premiering several Canadian musicals and has gained recognition for its national and international tours. Additionally, it supports the artistic community through initiatives such as the Basic Income Guarantee program for independent artists in Canada and various community and educational programs, including student matinees and the Adopt a Production initiative for local schools.
