Michael Torontow is a Communications Associate and former actor who transitioned into theatre administration, currently managing projects at Talk is Free Theatre and developing the Canadian Musical Theatre Database.

Michael Torontow began his academic journey at the University of Ottawa, initially pursuing a double-degree in Biochemistry and Chemical Engineering before switching his focus to Theatre and Arts Administration. He started his professional acting career with the US National Tour of ‘Mamma Mia!’ and later played Link Larkin in the original Canadian company of ‘Hairspray’. Torontow has both performed in and directed several notable productions, including ‘The Curious Voyage’, ‘Every Brilliant Thing’, ‘Into the Woods’, and ‘Sweeney Todd’. In 2019, he shifted towards administrative roles at Talk is Free Theatre, where he has been involved in curatorial tasks such as season casting and programming. Currently, he serves as the Project Manager and Developer for the Canadian Musical Theatre Database, an initiative designed to enhance connectivity within the national musical theatre community.
