Amyris Company Information
Founded in 2003 with a grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Amyris has developed a pioneering technology that transforms basic plant sugars into hydrocarbon molecules. This technology has enabled the commercialization of 13 sustainable ingredients, which are now used by hundreds of millions of people globally and incorporated into products from over 3,000 leading brands. In 2020, Amyris outperformed all other companies in its sector in the production of bio-based sustainable products through fermentation. The company maintains a broad portfolio of sustainable consumer brands and is committed to shifting the world towards sustainable ingredients. Amyris values collaboration, passion, innovation, safety, and integrity. Significant milestones include the launch of the Biossance brand in 2016, the commercialization of the Reb M sweetener molecule in 2018, and the inauguration of a new manufacturing plant in Brazil in 2021. Amyris has formed strategic partnerships with several industry giants such as DSM, Ingredion, and L’Oreal, enhancing its distribution and development capabilities across various markets. The company also focuses on ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) initiatives, evidenced by its inaugural ESG report published in 2021 and achieving Bonsucro certification in 2020.
