Wayne Chang

Wayne Chang serves as the co-founder and CEO at a company that specializes in digital credential technologies. He has actively engaged in advancing the Rust programming language through his involvement with the Rust Foundation. Chang played a pivotal role in the ISO/IEC 18013-7 Interoperability Event, facilitating a virtual test event in collaboration with AAMVA and ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC17/WG10 members. His partnership with the California DMV led to the development of a Mobile Driver’s License, which was recognized with the Gartner 2023 Eye on Innovation Award for the California DMV Open Source Mobile Wallet. Under his leadership, his company raised $34 million in a Series A funding round, with contributions from prominent investors such as Andreessen Horowitz, Y Combinator, and Okta Ventures. Additionally, Chang has expanded his team by hiring key executives including Wei Sun as VP, Head of Engineering, and David Kelts as Director, Head of Credible Platform. His company’s solutions, which focus on issuing, storing, and presenting digital credentials like mobile driver’s licenses, adhere to various standards including ISO/EIC 18013-5 mDL, W3C Verifiable Credentials, and OpenID4VC. Furthermore, all components of SpruceID are fully open source, licensed under Apache 2.0 or MIT licenses, and Chang is also a member of the OpenWallet Foundation.
