Dani Johnson

Dani Johnson serves as the Director and Head of Operations at the Rust Foundation, an independent non-profit organization dedicated to the Rust programming language. In her role, she has been instrumental in several key projects related to digital identity and mobile driver’s licenses (mDLs). Johnson was part of the team that collaborated with the California Department of Motor Vehicles on the development of a mobile driver’s license app, which includes advanced features like face biometrics and liveness detection. She also participated in a successful interoperability event aimed at standardizing digital IDs and was involved in the Transportation Security Administration’s (TSA) testing of mDLs at TSA PreCheck® lanes. Additionally, Johnson contributed to the expansion of a pilot program in California that allows citizens to obtain digital driver’s licenses and ID cards accessible via mobile devices. Her efforts have supported significant advancements in digital identity technology, reflecting her commitment to enhancing user accessibility and security.
