Jacob Healy

Jacob Healy serves as the Product Delivery Lead at the Rust Foundation, an organization dedicated to overseeing the Rust programming language. He has played a pivotal role in the development and implementation of digital identity solutions, particularly in the realm of mobile driver’s licenses (mDLs). Healy was instrumental in a successful interoperability event that is expected to aid the global adoption of mDLs and digital IDs. His strategic hires, including Wei Sun as VP, Head of Engineering, and David Kelts as Director, Head of Credible Platform, have strengthened his team’s capabilities. Healy also contributed to the Transportation Security Administration’s (TSA) tests of mDLs at TSA PreCheck® lanes across participating airports. Furthermore, he was involved in California’s expansion of mDL availability through a new app incorporating advanced features like face biometrics and liveness detection. Healy also led a test on mDL interoperability with various stakeholders, including government officials and businesses, aimed at standardizing digital identity frameworks. Additionally, under his leadership, the Rust Foundation raised $34 million in a Series A funding round, with contributions from notable investors such as Andreessen Horowitz, Y Combinator, and Okta Ventures. Healy also participated in California’s pilot program that allows citizens to access digital driver’s licenses and ID cards on their mobile devices.
