Gregory Rocco

Gregory Rocco holds the position of Product Advisor at the Rust Foundation, an organization focused on the stewardship of the Rust programming language. His contributions extend to the field of digital identity, where he has been actively involved in hosting interoperability events for mobile driver’s licenses (mDLs) to facilitate their global implementation. Rocco played a pivotal role in the testing of mDLs at TSA PreCheck® lanes across participating airports, a project aimed at enhancing traveler convenience and security. Additionally, he was instrumental in expanding the availability of California’s mDL through a new app that incorporates advanced features like face biometrics and liveness detection. His efforts also include overseeing a significant pilot program in California that allows citizens to obtain digital driver’s licenses or ID cards on their mobile devices. Furthermore, Rocco has been responsible for key hiring decisions, bringing on board Wei Sun as the VP, Head of Engineering, and David Kelts as the Director, Head of the Credible Platform. Under his leadership, the company successfully raised $34 million in a Series A funding round, which saw participation from notable investors such as Andreessen Horowitz, Y Combinator, Okta Ventures, and others.
