The Houston Zoo, established in 1922, is home to over 6,000 permanent animal residents and supports 49 wildlife conservation projects in 27 countries worldwide. The zoo features a variety of exhibits, including the African Forest, Bird Habitats, Galápagos Islands, and South America’s Pantanal. Visitors can enjoy unique in-person events, animal encounters, and a range of dining and shopping options. The zoo offers educational programs such as school partnerships and field trips, as well as Camp Zoofari for kids and families. The Houston Zoo provides training, technical, and financial support to global community-based wildlife conservation partners and has a conservation impact program focused on saving wildlife. Membership programs, donor clubs like Flock, the Asante Society, and the Werler Society, and volunteer opportunities for adults and teens are available. The zoo also features webcams for live animal viewing, an online store, and a program called Adopt an Animal. Additionally, the Houston Zoo offers Wildlife Travel trips for conservation enthusiasts and has a strategic plan for 2023-2025.
