Communities Foundation of Texas

Communities Foundation of Texas (CFT) manages more than 1,200 charitable funds for individuals, families, companies, and nonprofits. Since its founding in 1953, CFT has awarded over $2 billion in grants. The foundation raised $63.9 million through NTX Giving Day 2023 and offers a variety of charitable funds and strategic initiatives to support North Texas and beyond. Key initiatives include NTX Giving Day, Educate Texas, and the W. W. Caruth, Jr. Fund. CFT provides philanthropic services for individuals, families, businesses, and advisors, supporting a wide range of community impact areas such as education, economic security, health, and public safety. The foundation’s Business Impact Network offers community engagement strategy consulting, custom volunteer events, professional development, and networking opportunities. CFT partners with JPMorgan Chase for the Collin County Economic Opportunity Assessment and provides a searchable index of local nonprofits through the Giving Guide. It hosts the Collin County Nonprofit Success Institute in partnership with the United Way of Metropolitan Dallas and supports the Working Families Success Network to improve economic security for working families. CFT offers scholarships through more than 45 scholarship funds to support students in North Texas and beyond, and provides disaster relief and recovery support through various funds including the Support for Allen Fund. The foundation offers the GiveWisely® Tools and Sessions to help donors make informed charitable decisions and provides capacity-building offerings for nonprofits, including social entrepreneurship support. It hosts the Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy (CAP®) Study Group Program to enhance philanthropic planning skills among professional advisors. CFT offers a range of ways to make an immediate impact in the community, including donating cryptocurrency, and provides financial management and administrative support for nonprofit agency funds. It also hosts North Texas Giving Day, the largest single-day giving event in the nation.
