CIRI Company Information
CIRI, originally established as part of the YWCA’s International Institutes in 1918, was renamed in 2017 to better reflect its broad range of services and mission. The organization is dedicated to aiding immigrants, refugees, survivors of human trafficking and torture, and unaccompanied minors throughout Connecticut. In 2021, CIRI assisted nearly 700 individuals from these groups. It also provided professional and affordable immigration legal services to over 2,200 immigrants and their families. CIRI’s extensive volunteer network, including more than 670 volunteers, mentors, and pro bono attorneys, contributed over 11,000 hours of service in 2019 alone. The organization operates several key programs including Project Rescue, which offers comprehensive case management, advocacy, and legal aid to survivors of human trafficking and unaccompanied minors. Its Refugee Services program supports refugees in rebuilding their lives in America, providing services for up to five years post-arrival. Additionally, CIRI offers Translation Services in multiple languages for various clients including individuals, government agencies, and corporations. Its Economic Empowerment services focus on building economic independence for refugee clients through workforce readiness, job placement, and financial literacy education.
