Blue Diamond Growers Company Information

Blue Diamond Growers is a cooperative of almond growers that has been committed to quality, innovation, food safety, and sustainable farming practices since its establishment in 1910. The cooperative offers a broad range of wholesale and nutrient-dense almond ingredients to consumer products manufacturers and maintains the industry’s largest refrigerated storage capacity to ensure the freshest, highest quality almonds. Blue Diamond Growers operates three production plants located in Sacramento, Salida, and Turlock, encompassing over 2.5 million square feet of processing and storage space. The Sacramento facility alone spans over one million square feet and includes a cold storage and distribution center, bulk meat storage, an in-shell production facility, cooperative offices, global marketing and sales, and the Almond Innovation Center® dedicated to almond research and development. The Turlock Plant is recognized as the world’s most modern almond processing facility, equipped with the latest technology to produce new value-added products with a focus on quality and food safety. The Salida Plant is the world’s largest almond receiving station, capable of handling over five million pounds of almonds per day and home to the most technologically advanced brown almond processing line in the world, processing up to 1.2 million pounds every 24 hours. Blue Diamond Growers was the first grower-owned cooperative created to market almonds and has pioneered numerous innovations in almond processing, including the adoption of electronic sorting machines and the development of commercial splitting, slivering, and dicing machines. The cooperative has also been a leader in promoting the nutritional benefits of almonds since the 1920s and has developed markets for California almonds in over 80 countries. Blue Diamond Growers offers a diverse portfolio of branded consumer products available worldwide and has a comprehensive climate-smart sustainability program. The cooperative received up to $45 million from the USDA for the Partnerships for Climate-Smart Commodities Grant to implement climate-smart practices over five years, covering more acres of almonds than any other almond company in the world.
