AstroForge Company Information
AstroForge, previously known as Ex Scientia, operates out of Huntington Beach, CA, and employs a team of 10 individuals. As a participant in the Y-Combinator W22 batch, AstroForge has established itself within the industrials sector, specifically in manufacturing and robotics. In 2023, the company launched two significant missions: a refinery demonstration aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 in April and a deep space expedition in October. The April mission, in partnership with OrbAstro, aimed to validate AstroForge’s technology by performing extractions in zero gravity using a spacecraft pre-loaded with asteroid-like material. The October mission, conducted with partners including SpaceX, Intuitive Machines, OrbAstro, and Dawn Aerospace, focused on observing a target asteroid to prepare for a future retrieval mission. Additionally, AstroForge successfully closed a $13M seed funding round to further its goal of becoming the first commercial entity to mine asteroids and return the materials to Earth.
