Pursuit's Mission and Vision

Pursuit is a 501(c)(3) non-profit and Public Benefit Corporation (PBC) dedicated to transforming lives by providing adults from underserved backgrounds with the skills and opportunities to launch successful careers in technology. The organization's long-term vision is to create a capital market for workforce development, thereby unlocking critical funding to address socio-economic issues. Pursuit aims to address systemic challenges in workforce development through its integrated model, which includes community development, fellowship training, innovative financing, and employer services.

Pursuit's Fellowship Program

Pursuit offers a comprehensive four-year program designed to help adults from underserved communities transition into tech careers. The Fellowship is divided into two parts: Pursuit Core, which involves 15-20 months of intensive training, and Pursuit Commit, a 30-month phase focused on career development. The curriculum covers HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Node.js, Express, SQL, React, and Redux, among other technologies. Fellows receive industry-standard laptops, monitors, and display adapters free of charge. Upon completion, Fellows see a significant income increase, averaging a 400%+ jump, with many earning over $90K annually as software engineers.

Pursuit's Employer Partnerships

Pursuit has established strong partnerships with various leading companies, ranging from venture-backed startups to Fortune 500 firms. These partnerships play a crucial role in the success of Pursuit Fellows by providing employment opportunities and ensuring long-term career growth. Through Pursuit Commit, the organization helps companies hire, retain, and nurture engineers from non-traditional backgrounds. Pursuit's commitment to its Fellows extends beyond initial job placement, offering three years of on-the-job support and training to ensure early-career success.

Pursuit's Impact and Demographics

Pursuit's impact is profound, with Fellows experiencing a significant jump in their income, averaging a lifetime earning of $2M. The program serves a diverse demographic, with 100% of Fellows coming from low-income backgrounds, 50% identifying as women, trans, or non-binary, 70% as Black or Latine, and 40% as immigrants. Over 200 leading companies have employed Pursuit Fellows, showcasing the program's success in bridging the gap between underrepresented communities and the tech industry. Pursuit's training also includes leadership and personal development, industry readiness, and technical mastery, ensuring a holistic approach to career preparation.

Pursuit Bond and Innovative Financing

Pursuit Bond is an innovative financing model that ties funding to the successful creation of long-term careers for Fellows. This model is designed to address the financial barriers often faced by individuals from underserved backgrounds, making high-quality tech education accessible. By linking funding to measurable outcomes, Pursuit Bond ensures that resources are effectively used to support Fellows throughout their journey from training to employment. This approach not only benefits the Fellows but also attracts investors interested in making a social impact, thereby creating a sustainable funding mechanism for workforce development.
