Manifold, established in 2016, is an AI lab that focuses on accelerating clinical research through its AI-powered platform. The platform is designed to streamline the manual workflows involved in modern study and data management, offering a comprehensive suite of features for study operations, data operations, data analysis, and data sharing. Manifold’s solutions cater to observational studies and biobank core, helping research teams reduce the time to insights from months to minutes.

The platform can aggregate and curate data from multiple sources, including electronic health records (EHR), REDCap, surveys, laboratory information management systems (LIMS), variant calls, short-read sequencing, and whole slide histology images. It includes a participant portal for study participants to complete activities such as consent, surveys, cancer reporting, and biospecimen collection. The study manager feature allows for the administration of observational study workflows, including participant management, survey authoring, consent tracking, and digital outreach.

Manifold’s platform also features a cohort builder that enables users to describe complex cohorts in English and refine them using a graphical interface. The explorer tool allows for the exploration of clinical information using patient-centric or data-centric terms. Additionally, the platform includes compute environments that can be launched with a single click and are configured for research in R, SAS, Nextflow, Python, or custom environments. The access controller manages granular, role-based access to projects and data, while the workbench facilitates collaboration among researchers, holding the context of the project including code, data, notes, and comments.

Manifold has secured $15 million in investment and launched its AI-powered platform, which has been adopted by prestigious institutions such as the Indiana University Melvin and Bren Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University.
