LabCentral

LabCentral, established in 2013, is a non-profit organization that provides over 225,000 square feet of fully permitted laboratory and office spaces in Cambridge and Boston. It supports up to 125 start-ups with month-to-month, fully functional lab space, permits, waste handling, and common lab equipment for bioresearch. LabCentral’s flagship location at 700 Main Street focuses on Pre-seed through Series A companies, while LabCentral 610, a 33,000-square-foot facility, is located across from LabCentral on the third floor of Pfizer’s Kendall Square Worldwide Research and Development building. LabCentral 238, a 100,000-square-foot facility, offers robust bio-manufacturing capabilities. Bayer’s Co.Lab Cambridge supports cell and gene therapies entrepreneurs with Bayer’s expertise, and the Pagliuca Harvard Life Lab provides a 15,000-square-foot wet laboratory and co-working space for Harvard-affiliated biotech ventures. The Blavatnik Harvard Life Lab Longwood connects Harvard-affiliated company founders to resources for pre-seed and seed round research and development in therapeutic discovery. LabCentral has supported 278 companies, creating 6,339 new jobs, securing $18.4 billion in funding, launching 132 clinical trials, and being awarded 180 new patents since its founding. Its mission is to empower biotech and life science innovators by accelerating the development of breakthrough technology and therapies. LabCentral offers access to millions of dollars of shared equipment, operational and facilities support, and flexible rental service agreements. Its community includes shared equipment, technological capabilities, and support staff, fostering a focus on science. LabCentral’s thoughtfully designed spaces facilitate connections and inspire collaboration. The Ignite initiative addresses underrepresentation in biotech, and the DEIB Committee advises the executive team and peers while promoting education, communication, and awareness.
