Kernel Company Information
Kernel, established in 2016, is a company at the forefront of neuroimaging technology. Its first hardware product, Kernel Flow, is a premium multimodal neuroimaging headset that integrates high-resolution hemodynamics and EEG. This portable device can be set up in less than three minutes and has been validated through multiple peer-reviewed publications. Kernel Flow measures biomarkers for various brain activities, including the acute effects of subanesthetic ketamine and cognitive impairment levels due to alcohol intoxication. Kernel is currently enrolling clinics across the West Coast by invitation for a biomarker study on depression treatments and recruiting healthy controls and MCI patients for a study on aging in adults over 55. Recently, Kernel launched Kernel Flow2, which provides robust, fMRI-like functional neuroimaging in a quick and user-friendly headset. The Flow1 system has been validated in a feasibility study on measuring psychedelic effects and can measure dose-dependent brain responses to alcohol. Kernel’s neuroimaging platform aims to accelerate treatment development, improve patient outcomes, and reduce healthcare costs through its AI and ML tools that produce actionable biomarkers. The platform is designed to increase the efficiency of clinical trials, facilitate early identification of brain function issues, and support translational research to identify signatures that demonstrate new treatments are functionally engaging the brain. Kernel’s data-rich and easy-to-use neuroimaging platform builds on decades of functional neuroimaging advances.
