hackNY Company Information
hackNY aims to build a diverse and inclusive tech community in New York City, focusing on empowering the next generation of responsible tech leaders. The organization operates primarily through its annual Fellows Program, which is open to current, full-time students enrolled in undergraduate or graduate degree programs. This program is particularly inclusive, encouraging applications from international students enrolled at U.S. universities. During the program, which typically spans 10 weeks from early June to August, Fellows are required to reside in NYC, living together in NYU’s Othmer Hall near the Jay Street–MetroTech subway station. The Fellows Program not only offers competitive paid internships with meaningful projects but also includes a variety of enrichment activities such as a weekly Speaker Series, mixers, Fellow-led workshops, and group outings around NYC. hackNY does not impose specific requirements on the length or language of code submissions, encouraging applicants to showcase their best work. The selection process includes interviews with hackNY alumNY members, ensuring a thorough vetting of candidates. The program draws talented student hackers from around the globe, many of whom go on to achieve significant accomplishments such as founding companies, earning graduate degrees, and securing positions at both startups and major tech firms.
