Worldcoin

Worldcoin is a company dedicated to providing universal access to the global economy, regardless of country or background. It aims to become the world’s largest privacy-preserving human identity and financial network. Central to Worldcoin’s operations is the Orb, a custom biometric device that verifies humanness and uniqueness by capturing images of the face and eyes. This verification supports World ID, a privacy-preserving digital identity protocol that uses zero-knowledge proofs to ensure privacy and enables anonymous actions without revealing personal information. World ID can be used for various applications, including signing in to websites and apps, and claiming products and services. It is designed to be a global digital passport for authenticating as human online and supports multiple types of humanness verifications, including phone number and biometric verification. The World App, the first wallet created for the Worldcoin project, supports World ID and allows users to save, send, deposit, and withdraw cryptocurrencies. It is available in the App Store and Google Play Store and supports gas-free transactions for World ID holders. The app leverages the composability of Ethereum via the Optimism mainnet and integrates with various protocols and APIs, including SAFE, ENS, Uniswap, and Circle’s USDC. Worldcoin’s blockchain protocol, World Chain, is designed for humans and is launching soon. The Worldcoin Foundation, which serves as the steward of the Worldcoin protocol, aims to support and grow the Worldcoin community. Tools for Humanity helped launch Worldcoin and currently serves as advisors to the Foundation and operators of the World App. Worldcoin also has a community grants program to support projects that align with its mission. The Orb is equipped with a powerful computing unit to run several neural networks concurrently in real-time and uses multispectral sensors and a custom biometric imaging device to verify humanness and uniqueness. World ID is built in an open-source and decentralized manner, ensuring transparency and security.
