Will Merritt

Will Merritt works as part of the Applied Science team at Pachama, where he specializes in using artificial intelligence and satellite data to enhance forest carbon projects. His role involves collaborating with a diverse team of forest scientists, remote sensing scientists, data scientists, and machine learning engineers. Merritt is actively involved in projects aimed at protecting and restoring millions of hectares of land, which are certified by reputable third-party standard groups such as Verra, American Carbon Registry, Carbon Action Reserve, and Gold Standard. Through his work, he contributes to Pachama’s mission of driving funding towards effective reforestation and conservation projects. Merritt and his team use advanced remote sensing and AI technologies to assess the quality of forest carbon projects, supporting leading companies in selecting and monitoring the world’s most impactful projects. Additionally, he plays a role in helping land stewards develop carbon projects and secure funding, thereby facilitating income generation for them.
