Roberto Olivares-Amaya is the Vice President of Multiomics and AI. He holds a Ph.D. in chemical physics from Harvard University and a B.Sc. in chemistry from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). He has a rich background in computational chemistry, bioinformatics, and medical informatics, with 10 years of experience at the interface of machine learning and software development for life sciences and healthcare. Roberto began his career at ArcBio, a startup specializing in metagenomics diagnostics, where he created novel methods for genome compression, alignment, variant calling, and pathogen identification. He then served as VP of Technology at GNS Healthcare, leading the development of their causal machine learning platform, REFS. At ConcertAI, he worked as VP of AI Engineering, where he built a team that developed an NLP-based knowledge graph for EHR ontologies. Additionally, he co-founded ‘Clubes de Ciencia Mexico’, an organization dedicated to providing extracurricular STEM education. Roberto also completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Princeton University.
