Martin Stahl is the Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) with an extensive 25-year career at Roche. He began his career as a computational chemist and progressed through a variety of scientific leadership roles, including positions in medicinal chemistry, immunology, portfolio management, and research technologies. Stahl led a team to achieve a world-class reputation in computational chemistry and built program management for Roche’s small molecule research portfolio. He also spearheaded global initiatives that shaped the culture, infrastructure, and data science landscape at Roche. Most recently, he served as the Global Head of Lead Discovery at Roche. Stahl has published widely on molecular design and is a recipient of an ACS National Award for Computers in Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Sciences. He serves on the advisory board of the Journal of Medicinal Chemistry and the editorial advisory board of ChemMedChem. Additionally, he is a trustee of the Cambridge Crystallographic Data Centre. Stahl studied chemistry at The University of Freiburg and The Julius Maximilians University in Würzburg, Germany, and obtained a Ph.D. in computational chemistry from The Philipp University of Marburg.
