Joby Aviation
Joby Aviation Company Information
Joby Aviation specializes in the development of electric aircraft designed for aerial ridesharing, featuring vertical take-off and landing capabilities. These aircraft are equipped with six electric motors and are designed to operate as quietly as a conversation, minimizing noise in urban environments. Joby Aviation offers a ridesharing service accessible through a mobile app, providing an eco-friendly transportation alternative. The company is currently engaged in an extensive testing program with the FAA to certify its aircraft for commercial use and has successfully flown over 30,000 miles in tests with full-scale prototypes. Joby Aviation has secured exclusive rights to operate air taxi services in Dubai starting in early 2026 and has also signed a $131 million contract with the Department of Defense to provide and operate aircraft for the U.S. Air Force. With a production facility in Marina, California, and plans for a larger production site in Dayton, Ohio, capable of producing up to 500 aircraft annually, Joby Aviation is also a recipient of the FAA’s Part 135 Air Carrier Certificate, which permits commercial air taxi operations.
