The company operates in a $40 billion market for local food, which is continually growing. Forager organizes and streamlines local food programs for grocers, restaurants, and institutions, with technology built in collaboration with local farmers. The Forager Marketplace makes it easy to create new direct wholesale relationships, facilitating the procurement of over $20 million worth of food through its platform. Recently acquired by Local Line, a leading local food sourcing platform for regional food systems in North America, Forager will continue its operations in Maine. The company has recovered and distributed over 85,000 lbs. of fresh produce to communities in need through its food rescue operations, supported by funding from the ReFED COVID-19 Food Waste Solutions Fund for its Gleaner Surplus Program. Forager’s platform helps food recovery organizations scale their operations, generate revenue to cover costs, and reduce farm food loss. Additionally, Forager’s digital procurement platform supports Arizona grocers’ response to the surging demand for locally-sourced food, connecting 150 farmers, cheese makers, and makers with over a dozen grocers in the region. The technology also aims to reduce carbon emissions within the food supply chain.
