Clément Salaün

Clément Salaün co-founded Formance, where he currently serves as CEO, with a mission to empower innovative companies in building the next generation of financial services. His previous experience includes leading payments at Selency, where he designed and scaled systems for processing multi-million dollar transactions in real-time. At Formance, Salaün oversees product development, engineering, go-to-market strategies, and operational functions. He played a pivotal role in leading Alsid, a cybersecurity firm, from its inception to a successful acquisition within four years, growing the team to over 120 employees and establishing a significant global presence. Salaün has also engaged with the tech community, speaking at the Paris Fintech Forum and participating in events like TechCrunch Disrupt and Y Combinator reunions in San Francisco. Under his leadership, Formance has developed a robust ledger system used by companies like Newton to enhance financial tracking and compliance, notably with FINTRAC regulations. The system’s open-source nature allows for full code visibility and ownership, which was crucial in its selection by Newton for reliable transaction tracking and internal audits. Formance’s innovative CloudPrem I deployment model combines self-hosted data with a managed control plane, providing both control and convenience. This technology has not only helped Newton exceed performance targets but also played a critical role in identifying and resolving core application bugs, all while maintaining zero downtime and errors.
