Robin Tang

Robin Tang has significantly impacted the field of data infrastructure through his work at companies like Opendoor and Zendesk, where he focused on scaling their systems. He has also been involved with several early-stage startups, bringing a wealth of experience to each. As an avid user of data warehouses, Tang experienced firsthand the challenges of data latency between data warehouses and production data in transactional databases. Motivated by these challenges, he believes strongly in reducing replication lag to near zero and has advocated for making advanced data replication solutions more accessible. To address these issues, he open-sourced Artie Transfer, a tool designed to help alleviate data replication lag. Tang’s vision includes enabling OLTP data to be streamed and replicated continuously to data warehouses, aiming to reduce replication lag to mere seconds.
