William Bertrand

William Bertrand currently serves as the Chief Operating Officer, bringing a robust background in both the legal and biological sciences. He holds a J.D. from the University of Wisconsin and a B.S. in biology from Wayne State University. Bertrand’s career includes significant roles in the pharmaceutical industry, having served as the first General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer at MedImmune, where he also held various operational and corporate strategy roles. Previously, he was the Executive Vice President and General Counsel for Infinity Pharmaceuticals, Inc., and the Senior Vice President, Acting Chief Operating Officer, and General Counsel for Salix Pharmaceuticals. Notably, he played a key role in finalizing the integration of Salix Pharmaceuticals following its $14 billion acquisition by Valeant Pharmaceuticals in April 2015. Beyond his executive roles, Bertrand is actively involved in governance, currently serving on the board of directors of Ardelyx, Inc. and has been a board member for several private companies, including Trustwave and Inotek Pharmaceuticals.
