Vector Institute

The Vector Institute, established in March 2017, is strategically located at the Schwartz Reisman Innovation Campus in downtown Toronto. It was launched with a substantial funding commitment of $135 million over five years, sourced from the Government of Canada through the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR), the Government of Ontario, and nearly 40 diverse companies. Governed by a volunteer Board of Directors from various sectors including private, public, academic, and research communities, the institute aims to drive the adoption and commercialization of artificial intelligence (AI). It collaborates extensively with universities, health organizations, governments, and businesses. The Vector Institute also offers a range of programs to speed up AI application within organizations and hosts the Vector Distinguished Lecture Series for academic and industrial data scientists. Additionally, it provides nearly $2M in scholarships to incoming AI graduate students, underlining its commitment to education and research in AI.
