Marcio Souza

Marcio Souza currently serves as the President and Chief Executive Officer of PTC Therapeutics, a role he has held since May 2020. Prior to this, he was the Chief Operating Officer at the same company from May 2017 to April 2020, and before that, he served as Senior Vice President and Head of Product Strategy from July 2016 to May 2017. Souza’s earlier career includes positions at NPS Pharmaceuticals, Shire Human Genetic Therapies, and Sanofi Genzyme Corporation, indicating a strong background in the biopharmaceutical industry. He has been a board member of Aeglea BioTherapeutics since June 2021 and was a board member of Clearpoint Neuro from May 2019 to May 2020. Souza holds a degree in pharmacy and biochemistry with a specialization in toxicology and clinical analysis from the University of São Paulo, and an MBA from Fundação Dom Cabral.
