Ivan Dimov

Ivan Dimov co-founded Orca Bio in 2016 and serves as its Chief Executive Officer. Prior to this, he was the Chief Technology Officer at Lucira Health and a Senior Scientist at Stanford University. Dimov’s academic contributions include his role as a Siebel Fellow and visiting instructor in Irv Weissman’s laboratory at Stanford University, as well as a visiting research scholar at the BioPOETS Lab at the University of California, Berkeley. His research has significantly advanced microfluidic platforms for stem cell research and the development of low-cost molecular diagnostics. Additionally, Dimov founded BlobCode Technologies and established two research centers in Chile focused on robotics and hospital technologies. He holds a PhD in applied biophysics from Dublin City University and bachelor’s and master’s degrees in electronics, telecommunications, and computer science from Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María in Chile. Over his career, Dimov has published more than 40 articles in peer-reviewed journals and holds over 40 patents or patent applications.
