Roy Stillwell is the Founder, CEO, and Chief Scientist of NearWave, with extensive experience in programming, embedded design, and system architecture, and a PhD in electrical engineering from the University of Notre Dame.

Roy Stillwell is a seasoned professional with over 12 years of experience in programming, embedded design, and industry applications. He spent more than a decade as a lead system architect before transitioning to his current role as the Founder, CEO, and Chief Scientist of NearWave. Roy holds a PhD in electrical engineering from the University of Notre Dame, where he also began the development of NearWave’s technology as a class project in a biophotonics course. Alongside Thomas O’Sullivan, he co-founded NearWave and has been instrumental in presenting the company’s innovative work at both national and international conferences. His contributions to the field are well-documented in numerous peer-reviewed journal publications.
