Drew Thieme

Drew Thieme is a cheminformatician who holds a PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Purdue University. His expertise spans several areas including data science, biochemical and subjective experiential data curation, computational chemistry, medicinal chemistry, psychopharmacology, pathophysiology, and drug discovery and development. Thieme employs advanced techniques such as machine learning, quantitative structure-activity relationship modeling, molecular modeling, and biomedical knowledge graph analysis in his research. His dissertation focused on using natural language processing to harmonize raw subjective scent data, aiming to predict subjective scent perception profiles from the chemical structure of odorants. Additionally, Thieme has worked on defining the concept of Clinical Outcomes Pathways, which offers a new paradigm for the classification, characterization, and comparison of drug action. Currently, he is adapting his methods to the domain of subjective psychedelic experience at Mindstate Design Labs, aiming to drive the discovery of novel psychedelic drugs and the precision design of modified conscious states.
