Arup Roy-Burman, MD

Arup Roy-Burman, MD, has served as a pediatric intensivist and medical director for over 20 years at some of the country’s top hospitals. During his tenure, he observed that highly skilled medical staff were not always adhering to best practices, primarily due to inadequate training and support at the bedside. To address this issue, he initiated a study at UCSF that successfully reduced central line infections by 48%. Building on this success, his methodology further demonstrated an 85% reduction in hospital-acquired C. difficile infections. In 2016, Roy-Burman co-founded Elemeno with Ed Nanale, a veteran game developer from Electronic Arts, to help frontline medical teams improve their practice through a supportive, game-based platform. This platform has been instrumental in enhancing the quality of healthcare delivery by providing accessible, practical training solutions to medical professionals.
