Mike Lynch

Mike Lynch serves as an assistant professor in the Biomedical Engineering and Chemistry Departments at Duke University. He is recognized for his significant contributions to the field of biotechnology, particularly in the development of engineered biocatalysts for the production of chemicals. Prior to his tenure at Duke, he founded and was the Chief Scientific Officer at OPX Biotechnologies, Inc., where he led the development of technologies for converting sugars into valuable chemicals like 3-hydroxy propionic acid and fatty acids through fermentation processes. His team at Duke has successfully developed the Synthetic Metabolic Valve technology, which allows for dynamic control of microbial metabolism in standardized bioprocesses, further establishing his reputation as a leader in metabolic engineering.
