The Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan, established in 1984, aims to ensure that residents in Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Monroe, Washtenaw, Livingston, and St. Clair counties can thrive. The foundation has distributed more than $1.4 billion through over 85,000 grants to nonprofits working in diverse fields such as arts, children and youth, economic stability, health and human services, and the environment. It offers a variety of charitable funds, including unrestricted, field of interest, designated, scholarship, and donor-advised funds. Additionally, the foundation provides resources and support for nonprofit organizations to manage and fundraise for endowment building. It offers professional investment management of endowments, overseen by an Investment Committee and consultants. The foundation accepts a wide variety of gifts, including cash, securities, real estate, and more, for fund creation. It also hosts the Richard F. Huegli Award for Program Excellence and the Mariam C. Noland Award for Nonprofit Leadership to recognize outstanding contributions in the community.
