Abhay Roy

Abhay Roy is currently the Vice President of Engineering, known for his leadership in the development of Cisco’s Nexus family of products, including the Nexus 7k, 9k, 6k, and 5k. His expertise spans multiple technologies such as BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, BFD, Segment Routing, IPv6, OTV, LISP, and FabricPath. Recently, he led teams focused on NETCONF/YANG manageability, virtual platforms, and DevOps, enhancing network programmability and automation. Prior to his tenure at Cisco, Roy held senior engineering roles at Sun Microsystems and Wipro Infotech in India, where he was instrumental in the design and development of Network Protocols, the Solaris TCP/IP stack, and Remote Access Servers. An active contributor to industry forums, Roy served as the co-chair of the OSPF working group at IETF from 2007 to 2018 and has authored 12 RFCs. He holds an M. Tech degree in Electronics and Telecommunications from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, and has been awarded 37 patents in various networking technologies. In his spare time, Roy enjoys keeping up with new developments in social engineering, artificial intelligence, machine learning, robotics, and exploring new gadgets.
